In the case of 与in case of这两个短语虽然一字之差，并且在实际使用当中经常混用，但在法律语言中的含义还是有一些区别。具体而言：
In the case of意思包括：
 
         1、“在…的情况下”，一般是指可预测、可选择的情形，例如：
         However, in the case of assignment, the Buyer shall remain responsible for performance by the assignee, its successor and assigns of all the Buyer's obligations, liabilities and responsibilities under this Contract
但在进行转让的情况下, 买方应始终对受让方及受让方的承继人和受让人对本合同项下买方所有义务、债务和责任的履行情况负责。
In the case of an equality of votes, the chairman shall have a casting vote.
在赞成票和反对票票数相等的情况下，主席有权投决定性一票。

        2、“在…所述的情况下”，例如：
        unless, in the case of paragraph (a) above:
        但在上文第（a）款所述的情况下，有下列情形之一的除外：

        3、“如果有某物”，例如：
        Where, in the case of any article or substance found by an inspector in any premises which he has power to enter,…
如督察在有权进入的任何场所内发现任何物品或物质
Any communication shall be given by letter or fax in the case of notices to the Issuer, to it at:
发送给发行人的所有通知应采用信件或传真的方式发送，收件地址如下：

        4、“就/对于某物而言、在某物的情况下”，例如：

        转换或交换可转换证券后可发行的可转换证券和期权的数量, 应当视为……

        对于所有其他款项
     
         5、“就/对于某人（机构）而言、在某人（机构）的情况下”，例如：
        "Affiliate" with respect to a specified Person means (a) in the case of an individual, … and (b) in the case of a legal entity, …
        特定的人的“关联方”：(a) 对于个人而言, 是指……;(b) 对于法人而言, 是指……
        In the case of a transfer to joint holders, the number of joint holders to whom the shares are to be transferred does not exceed three; and
        向联名持有人转让时, 受让的联名持有人不超过三人；
        Where, in the case of a local authority who are an enforcing authority, the Commission is of the opinion that an investigation should be made as to whether that local authority have failed to perform any of their enforcement functions, the Commission may make a report to the Secretary of State.
        地方主管部门是执行部门，委员会认为应该就地方主管部门是否存在不履行执行职责的情形展开调查的，委员会可以向国务卿提出报告。
 
       In case of意思是“发生……时”，一般是指意料之外、不该发生的事件，例如
        In case of late payment or failure by the Retailer to pay the sums invoiced by and due to the Company as provided in Article 8
        零售商违反第8条规定，逾期支付或未支付公司出具发票的到期金额时
        Duty to provide certain premises with means of escape in case of fire
        对某些场所配备火灾逃生设施的义务
        in case of serious professional misconduct by the Retailer；
        零售商严重渎职的；
        In case of any discrepancies between the Chinese language and the English translation, the English version shall prevail.
        中文版本与英语译本之间发生任何冲突的，以英语译本为准。
        In case of incorrect labels or packing of the goods
        如货物的标签或包装不正确
