Chapter VII Rights and Interests in Marriage and Family
Article 60 The State shall guarantee that women are entitled to equal rights as men in marriage and family.
Article 61 The State shall protect women's autonomy in marriage. Interference with women's freedom to marry or divorce shall be prohibited.
Article 62 The State shall encourage couples to undergo medical examinations or other relevant physical examinations before marriage registration.
Article 63 A marriage registration authority shall provide counseling services in respect of marriage and family and guide couples to create an equal, harmonious, and loving marriage and family.
Article 64 A husband shall not file for divorce during his wife's pregnancy, within one year after his wife's childbirth, or within six months after the termination of his wife's pregnancy unless his wife files for divorce or the people's court deems it necessary to accept the petition for divorce filed by the husband.
Article 65 Domestic violence against women shall be prohibited.
The competent authorities of people's governments at or above the county level, judicial authorities, social organizations, companies, social entities, residents' autonomous organizations, and other organizations and entities shall take measures to prevent and stop domestic violence within the scope of their respective functions and duties, and provide relief to female victims according to law.
Article 66 A wife shall have equal rights, as her husband does, to possess, use, benefit from, and dispose of their community property, without considering their income or other factors.
A wife shall have the right to request that her name be recorded in the ownership certificate of any immovable property as their community property or any movable property that can be registered jointly, request to make corrections or register a challenge according to law if she believes that the recorded obligee, subject matter, proportion of rights, or other information is wrong, and the competent authority shall make corrections or register a challenge according to law as requested.
